It’s May and there is a highlighted day on the calendar this month that may bring along many emotions, especially for those invisible moms. Mother’s Day is a short ten days away and for many this is a difficult day to navigate.
How can we honour those mothers who do not have a child in their arms, the mother who holds her child only with her heart, the mother who struggles to answer “how many children do you have?” It’s easy to celebrate when we have visible children. The world accepts the visible, but what about the invisible? What about those who were made mothers by an angel whether it was through a miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.
For those mamas who are experiencing their first Mother’s Day as an invisible mom, I know how difficult that can be. I remember hiding at home, feeling hollow because there was a piece of me that was missing. This type of loss is isolating because it takes the courage of the broken-hearted mama to reach out and ask for support. No one finds them without her reaching out first.
Dear Invisible Mama, though I may not be able to see you, I know you’re there. I know you’re enduring damp cheeks wishing that your little one was here to hold. Dear Invisible Mama, who I’d like to call a friend, you are not alone this.
When I wrote Chasing Light, one of the main reasons was to reach women who have endured a similar loss and let them know that they are not alone during this unjustifiable loss. For Mother’s Day, I’d like to gift those mamas a copy of my story. I pray that you find comfort in the similarities and exhale a breath of relief reading through a story that could easily be your own. This is a club that none of us asked to be a part of, an invisible sisterhood.
The online store will not let me make the book free, so I hope you will accept the gift for a penny (plus shipping). Orders can be made here. If you’d like to send a copy of Chasing Light as a gift to an invisible mom, please let me know in the “notes” section during check out. Local pick-up is also available in Richmond, BC, Canada. This offer is available only off my website. Regular prices will still apply on Amazon, Indigo, and other online retailers.
Happy Mother’s Day to the Invisible Moms.
